This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences – Entrepreneur Lesley Hayes looks at Transforming Transformational Leadership – Switch OFF: Leadership = Power Switch ON: Transform Transformational Leadership. Switching leadership from a Problem of THEM to a Challenge for ME. The ultimate arrogance of leadership is others must follow. What if the only one we CAN help is ourselves? What if, ‘Being the Change we want in the World’ is leadership. That WHO we are matters most.

Entrepreneur, academic, wife and mom. I have founded, built, sold and been challenged by businesses since I was 25. Trained as a graphic designer, recently completing an MBA and working away on a PHD in Entrepreneurship. I am passionately exploring Leadership, in theory and in real life. I serve on the boards of a few public companies, love our small business in Costa Rica, am the Global Chair of the Leadership Committee for Entrepreneur’s Organization and volunteer in my local community. I am halfway through my journey to learn, love and laugh with amazing people from all over the planet, swapping stories and experiences to learn and grow.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
